The Haterleigh Heritage Inn was built in 1901 as a family home by Thomas Hooper, a well known architect from Haterleigh in Devon, England. Today it is a handsomely restored and immaculately kept inn. The breathtakingly beautiful and original leaded and stained glass windows sparkle in the sun. Antique furnishings and polished fir floors intermingle gracefully with the creature comforts of today. Lace curtains, high ceilings and Sanderson wallpaper complete the picture.
The large morning parlour with its wood burning fireplace and Victorian furnishings is a focal point for the late afternoon hospitality hour hosted by owners/innkeepers, Paul and Elizabeth Kelly. In warm weather, guests may drift to the old-fashioned porch framing the front and side of the inn. Just off the parlour the informal dining room plays host to the Kelly's legendary breakfasts. Up to 11 fruits can grace the table alongside homemade bread, and that's just for starters. Hot entrees follow. Elizabeth's signature dish, West Coast Scones is a favorite. These are homemade cheese scones drizzled with Hollandaise sauce and filled with scrambled eggs into which smoked salmon has been folded. To accompany this delight are stuffed mushrooms and sunflower greens.

In keeping with the Inn's romantic theme, the six spacious bedrooms are furnished in soft roses and whites. Lush carpeting warms the bedroom floors, and Battenburg lace or cozy duvets decorate the beds. Four rooms have Jacuzzi tubs. Day Dreams, the honeymoon suite, features a double Jacuzzi.
Haterleigh Heritage Inn is perfectly located two blocks from downtown Victoria and its ferry terminals. The Kellys are happy to help visitors with sightseeing plans and keep a copy of the city's best restaurant menus on hand.
