Theresa Yiju Lin currently lives in Eugene, Ore. Lin is an international student who studies at the University of Oregon. She majors in journalism public relations and minors in film studies. In January 2005, she begins her internship at BootsnAll Travel Network by writing articles about traveling to Asia.

The highlight of Lin’s life is her Mandarin Chinese name because only a few people can pronounce it correctly the first time they hear it. It is not surprising that most people are just confused so they improvise and give her more exhilarating nicknames. Lin thinks her name is a great icebreaker to start conversations while meeting new friends.

Born and raised in Ilan, Taiwan, Lin spent about 13 years and enjoyed her time with family and friends in this rural town. Then she moved to Taipei to attend high school, where she met many interesting friends, who inspired her to go study abroad. Away from home, she felt homesick constantly until she moved to Eugene her sophomore year. Not only the nature but also the people there makes her feel like home now and then.

Lin took her first independent trip with her sister to Japan at the age of 13. They found the beauty of traveling since. Later, they traveled to Indonesia, Canada and United States. She decided to continue traveling by studying in the United States.

Lin is grateful that she has the privilege to study and live in another country. Therefore, she spends her free time writing online journals to share her ideas and stories.
