London, UK It was the dilemma of the year. United Kingdom or Belize? Belize City or London? What is the answer? Avoiding an obvious altercation with my ever wise and conventional hubbie, I refrained from asking him. How could I disclose my extravagant and no less costly adventure? His obvious thought would be rational: Where is the conservancy in taking a spontaneous, although well-deserved holiday? Other responsibilities should take priority. The shame! Oh, well. I know I can't tell him, I won't tell him, least not yet. But how can I keep it from him, he's part of the plan. He's gotta go! I've got to devise a plan, a scheme, an excuse, a reason to go. Hmmmm. It took no time for my devious mind to devise "The Plan". I'm Brilliant! It'll be my anniversary gift to him, from me, to you. Yes, that's it. I'll provide a card the week before the trip with the words "For my Loving Husband, from me to you." He couldn't get upset with a "gift". Or could he? Now, that's settled, I'm back to my original dilemma. Where to go? London or Belize. What is a person to do? Will it be the draw of the excitement, fast pace, and sophistication of London, second only to New York? Or will it be the repose, the beauty and simplicity of trekking the back country of Belize? Imagine the possibilities. This is just too much. What is a person to do? Weeks go by and still no answers and no decisions. How can this be, after weeks of painful and exhausting cerebration? What to do! May is only two months away. I know I have the answer. The answer is within me and me only. Our holiday kismet lies solely in my hands. Then on one cloudy day in March, (it really wasn't cloudy, dramatic effect) the answer took struck me with considerable force. I must count this as the epiphany of a lifetime, at least for the day. As I leaned back in my unstable office chair, I felt an immense sense of satisfaction and pleasure. LONDON! It will be London! How did this come to me? It was so simple, it's almost too embarrassing to reveal. But, since I'm the sharing sort, I'll tell. As I was perusing the internet, in my usual fashion, I stumbled across the sale of a lifetime. An unnamed airline had travel to London, starting at under $215 one way. If that doesn't impress, I also received an upgrade to business class for less than $100 one way. The delight! My reaction was immediate. I had my ticket purchased before I knew what hit. Reality sits in. "The Plan" is not in motion. I've got to carry it out. Now the questions, what am I going to do once I'm there? Accommodation, amusement, food, fun. Well, I've won the battle, but the war is not over.
