How did you get there: Car
How did you get around: Car
The local people wanted: your money/passport
Surroundings: I’d tell you if I could see through the swarms of people
Top Local Attractions: Beaches and Casinos. Not necessarily the best attraction, just what it’s known for.
Best places to eat and drink: I don’t think I was able to afford eating here. I can’t even remember having a meal.
Best places to stay: In your car…drive up into the alps, find a place to pull over because you’ll never be able to afford anything here.
Wish you knew: What I wish I didn’t know…the beauty of the Turkish and Greek beaches because frankly I don’t think the Riviera can compare. BUT they are the prettiest beaches in France.
Recommendations: It’s an oxymoron actually…while I recommend you sleep in your car because everything else is too unaffordable, I also recommend you don’t bother renting a car because the license plates label you as a tourist. Find out more below…
Comments: We pulled off and parked along a camp ground, along with 100 other cars, at a fairly uncrowded (relative to St. Tropez) beach. Heeded the general warnings of putting everything hidden and locked in the trunk so you won’t be pegged as a tourist. The debate: do we lock our passports and money in the trunk out of sight, with a 50/50 chance of being broken into, or do we take our stuff with us, leave it on the beach with a 90/10 chance of getting our stuff stolen while we’re in the water? We locked our stuff up. Had the time of our lives! Came back to find that someone jacked the lock on the passenger side, unlocked the trunk because there’s a clearly marked button saying “open me” and stole all our ID and money. We’ve been to Romania, Turkey, Morocco, everywhere…nothing got stolen. The French Riviera!! Where the rich come to play with their yachts!!!
