well i have to say im sorry to hear that you have a bad experience in bangkok. yes, some of the stuff are true, the police are very corrupted and bargirls do harrass you. but the part about a group of men will "be assaulted everywhere you go, 24 hours a day" surprises me. i've never seen anyone got assaulted though i lived in bangkok for 14 years. the food vendors might look unsanitized for western people, but that's really how thai people eat, as far as i know, no one die from eating those food yet. of course people do not speak english, it's thailand you're talking about, you cant blame them for not knowing your language. I seems like you're going to thailand again, but if you do, i hope you have a better experience this time, go to some other parts of the country and just have fun!~

Bangkok's dazzling temples are part of the city's heart and soul and it's most famous count among the Orient's most iconic must-sees.

I know many westerners from Europe, the UK, and the North America that absolutely love Bangkok. You must have gone to some terrible places in the city. If you don't toughen up, and get good insight on what places to see and what places to avoid, anywhere in Southeast Asia will be traumatizing for you.

Oh and... even if you go to a developed country in Asia like Japan, with a wonderful public transport system, and clean streets, you will still find that no one really speaks English, French, Swedish, Italian or any other western language. Because you may have forgotten that they are situated in ASIA. Maybe if you go to Vietnam, because they were a former French colony you will find French speakers.

I am also surprised that you say there are no bars in Bangkok. The nightlife in Bangkok is one of my favorites! There are so many places to choose from. If you want to go upscale, you can go see the view of the city at Sky Bar in Lebu State Tower, if you want to go crazy to House music, you go to Demo, if you wanna sit down and have a beer and a nice view you can visit The Deck. You really are missing out on the beauty of the city.

Unfortunately, sewage, and corruption runs rampant in many SEAsian cities. But I think that is only traumatizing for westerners because maybe you people forget that THE REST OF THE WORLD IS NOT LIKE YOUR DEVELOPED COUNTRY.

This is one of the worst travel pieces I've read. The author seems petrified of everything he encountered in Bangkok, with a negative, sneering attitude that is appalling.
