June in Eugene: The weather is warming up and the rainy days are few and far between. Last summer Eugene had a record 90 rain free days. So, if this summer is anything like last summer, it should be a good one.
Snow levels in the surrounding Cascade mountains are still quite high because of the heavy snowfall this winter. Snow is still prevalent as low as 3500 feet. But it is warm enough to access a few hikes that weren’t just a few weeks ago. Mt. June is a worthy half day hike with views of the Cascades that are virtually unmatched so close to Eugene.
Direction to Mt. June: Take Rt. 58 South and turn right at the Dexter exit. Go 5 miles until taking a right at the Eagle’s Rest turn off. Follow that road up about 15 miles until the Mt. June trailhead. there is still a bit of snow up there as of June 1st but it is easily navigable by foot and the top is dry for a picnic.

Saturday Market continues every Saturday in Downtown Eugene. Flower children from all generations are alive and well.
Skinner’s Butte in Downtown Eugene
People gather at night to watch the sunset as the views are special for a city. Sun sets around 9:30 p.m. through June and the Solstice. Don’t let the Generation Y’ers up there listening to Offspring in there cars discourage you. All sorts gather up there.
University of Oregon Graduation
Mid-June sparks the end of another group of students tenure at this PAC-10 school. Many ceremonies occur during the second weekend of the month. Accommodation within and around the city can be extremely difficult for out of towners during this time. Perfect time for a BootsnAll Longhair to come to the rescue. ; )
At the end of the month, June 24th-27th, the US Track and Field Championships will be held at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon’s campus. The USA’s best track athletes will descend on Eugene for a week. The likes of Michael Johnson and Marion Jones will be running around the famous old track.
