Umhlanga Rocks, Kwazulu Natal - South Africa
Swimming at this popular resort, just north of Durban, South Africa is actually safe thanks to the shark net warranted by the large shark population. Although the net keeps out the aggressive bull and great whites that live in the area, they also kill many fish and dolphins; the Natal Sharks Board is considering removing the net. Do your research before slipping into the water – you might not be alone.

Sharks in South Africa, namely Gansbaai and Kosi Baai are the biggest draw to the area. This is where your can put your mental brawn to the test by going inside the cage into shark-infested waters. That's on the agenda on our next visit to S.A.! Thanks for sharing your information here!

"Any place that has placed protective nets to help keep
sharks away from ocean bathers has got to have a lot of sharks."

Incorrect. Many places in Australia have shark nets. This is largely due not to the supposed large amount of sharks, but the immense popularity of beaches in Australia. We have sharks pretty much everywhere, but they rarely come close to the beaches (if ever, in most places) and even more rarely do they attack people.

Bondi is actually very safe, shark-wise, there hasn't been a shark attack there in decades. Australia has had several shark attacks over the past 12 months, and none of them were at Bondi. All of your attack statistics are false. As Jayy14 said, the bull shark attack was 1000km away on Stradbroke Is. In another incident, a navy diver was attacked in Sydney Harbour. At least that's the same city as Bondi, but it's still 10km away via the coast. Earlier this year a man was bitten by a 130cm shark (hardly a life-threatening attack) in the northern beaches of Sydney. (Bondi is a southern beach).

Where did you get these 'statistics'??

I'm sorry but your wrong about Bondi.
Firstly, the lady was killed by 3 bull sharks in Amity Point, which is on North Stradbroke Island in QLD. It is no where near Bondi. Secondly, the 16 year old bodyboarder was killed in Ballina, almost 600 kilometers north of Bondi. There hasn't been a shark attack in Bondi in over 80 years so don't make it out to be a dangerous beach.

You Mrs.Blakley should better write in France about Baguettes - and not about some bullsh... stories or bullsharks. Specially Bolinas, where kids go surfing and australia, where swimmer ONLY get attacked...all this is completely NOT fact. Read the science magazines about sharks, the most endangered species in the world !
Aloha - I am a surfer. Not a baguetterian !
