In addition to ferries, you can try hitching by sailboat. Ask around the marina in Bonifacio to see who's sailing down to La Maddalena. In Messina or Catania you can find boats headed to the Lipari (Aeolian) Islands. Tunis is a good bet for Pantelleria and Cagliari for the Egadians. Thanks for these great suggestions.
