I would Kerela. You choose what you want, fish, shrimp etc and they cook it for you while you enjoy your beer.

Hmm, their quite yummy except for that boiled duck egg. I feel sad about the unborn chick. I’ve been to Zanzibar once on a business trip, eating there beside the sea with my colleagues is a wonderful experience.

Good article, Robin. I’m glad that you put the disclaimer in about going to the hospital, though. As someone who has lived in both India and Turkey, I can attest to the yumminess of those countries’ street food. Though, in India, I wouldn’t eat the street food at all because it could lead to something worse than “Delhi belly” – jaundice. Search my site http://www.missadventures.com for info about that.
Not sure about Delhi, but in Mumbai the best place for street-style food is at a place called Swati Snacks in the Tardeo neighborhood.
Turkey’s got some great street food, and I especially miss hearing my simitci call out his wares in the morning and afternoon. Another interesting street food they have there is ciger sandwiches (liver sandwiches) and cig kofte, made from spicy, raw lamb meat. It’s so spicy it’s “safe.” But you’re better off getting it at the deli counter at the grocery store!

Bangkok is great for street food. I ate some type of bug in Bangkok and I’m still not sure what they were, but I’m still alive.

The food in Marrakesh at the Djemaa el Fna is outstanding. Seafood, snails, strong Moroccan mint tea – the best “street” food I’ve had anywhere.
