I stayed in Hotel Romeo which is simply magical and the food just about everywhere was fresh and good.

Word of advice: TAXI DRIVERS in Naples are ALL THIEVES

Actually stay aware as most traders will try to short change you, in my case even the litle old man selling nuts at the docks tried!

In short great place but stay aware..

well i was born in Naples but i left when i was very young and i got to love America not for the opportunity the give my but for the worm of the people hart and the way of living
now after 30 years i had to take a first vacation and i can honestly say that you are so Right Naples was a beautiful city now it is shithole and the people are little pigs that need to go back to cavitation school

I just got back from spending a weekend in Naples, and I have to say– you must have brought it on yourself, because Naples might be my favorite city so far in Italy. I found that the people were very polite and friendly if you were polite and friendly to them, and the food was amazing.

Maybe if you had, instead of trying to look tough, you had tried to look respectable. That usually works for me.

I was stationed in Naples for two years…at first I was just glad to be in Italy and was a little surprised by the city, but as time wore on I found myself loving Naples…the people, the culture and the food. In order to appreciate it you have to understand it. When it was time for me to leave, I realized it was my home and I was terribly sad. Go back and have an open mind about it, don’t think all American… Napoli Caput Mundi.

Oh my! This is so funny! I live in Naples, stationed overseas with my Husband. I looked up Naples and Asthma in a search since I am struggling to breathe every night here and found this! It laughed OUT loud it is so funny!

Last time I visited Naples, I went with my brother who was then living in Kazakhstan, and who has travelled all over the world. He remarked how he’s never seen a crappier, more run-down city. I agree with everything you said here. But Naples is definitely one of my favorites.
