At the visitors center you can get a guide for the Coachella Valley Preserve which gives the hiker valuable information on the trail, plant and wildlife, geology of the area, and a history of the area. The Coachella Valley preserve is open daily from sunrise to sunset. They do ask that you plan your time so you are out of the parking lot by sundown. The check-in staff were very helpful and extremely courteous. We were given a choice of room and we chose a first floor room close to the pool and reception area. We had forgotten that breakfast was included so this came as a nice surprise although sometimes it was difficult to find a table but this was probably due to the time we chose to eat. The Happy Hour was also extremely unexpected but very welcome and a nice touch. Our room was very comfortable and always clean regardless of the time we left in the morning. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Palm Desert. We chose to stay in Palm Desert as we had friends in the area but we weren't sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised, it felt safe and was very clean with a fantastic display of flowers wherever we went. We hope to visit again in the future.
