"Live the life you've imagined" —Thoreau
Travel is my rebellion; Travel is my remedy. Whether on a plane, train or bus, I enjoy the freedom of being suspended between two places, all anxieties of purpose taken care of: for this moment I know where I am going. Now what may happen when I get there is another story. Travel delights in story. I love to write and I love to travel, so BootsnAll, this is the beginning of a beautiful... internship.
My name is Lynn Holmgren and I grew up in Sandwich, MA, the oldest town on Cape Cod. It is a quaint place that begs to be left behind once you reach a certain age. I am a senior English Literature and Writing Major at Wheaton College (MA).
My appetite for traveling was whetted by numerous family road trips up and down the east coast of the US (destination: "Florida Grandma"). This meant removing the middle seats in our van and turning the floor into a wrestling ring with sleeping bags and pillows, as well as waking up at 2 am under the neon glow of gas station lights to share a Hershey's bar and a Coke with my Dad as we pushed on down I-95 with the 18-wheelers.
All of my overseas travel has occurred in the past year. Two weeks in Florence, Italy, preceded a semester of study in England, which included travel to France and the Netherlands. This was followed by a semester of study in Australia.
Future travel plans include taking a tour of all the US National Parks, heading back to Europe, and possibly teaching for a year in Japan after I graduate.
My favorite places on the planet: Echo Point, Lake St. Claire, Tasmania, East Anglia, UK, Monet's Garden, Giverny, France, Mayflower Beach, Dennis, and Cape Cod, MA (I'll always have a little sand in my shoes.)
