Scott Churchill
BootsnAll Photojournalist
Scott is a senior at Southern Oregon University pursuing a degree in Journalism. During Spring 2003 he interned with BootsnAll and wrote their Southern Oregon Travel Guide. Although born in Oregon, he spent his formative years in Southern California, moving to the comparatively wild slopes of Mount Shasta, in the far Northern end of the state, just in time to attend high school. He spent a few blurry years ski-bumming around Lake Tahoe and finally settled in Southern Oregon where he currently lives with his wife Cathy, a cat named Henri, and two dogs, Chloe and Eddy.
Scott owns his birthday issue of National Geographic and has long aspired to follow in the footsteps of those talented journalists. He loves to photograph people in their daily lives, community events, his family (pets especially!) and the flora and fauna of his local region. When not behind the lens of a camera he enjoys cycling, hiking and is a passionate reader.
Scott's travels include a six-month stint Down Under and more recently a trip to the furthest reaches of the American continent. While in Chile and Argentina he braved the penguin-infested waters of Tierra Del Fuego and tromped around the breathtaking peaks of Torres Del Paine National Park. While traveling Scott likes to immerse himself in the local culture and is absolutely well mostly fearless when it comes to choosing and eating the unrecognizable items he points to on the menu.
Many of Scott's travels have been by bicycle up and down the West Coast of America and along the back roads of the Pacific Northwest. He loves the freedom and independence of bike touring as well as the total immersion in the climate and geography of a region. He looks forward to a long and enlightening career of traveling, photographing and writing about the near and far reaches of the globe.
