Sean Fitzmorris is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. His first taste of traveling came with his senior cruise to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas. He wondered what it would be like to spend more than a day or so exploring the islands, getting to know the local culture. Later, on a visit to Tulúm, Mexico, he and his group were approached by an American archaeology student for a lift to a recently discovered Mayan ruin. Sadly, the girl who had rented the Jeep for the group refused to go and consequently, none of them went. Sean determined that he would eventually travel like that student, hiking and discovering new places.
He began to fulfill that determination when he traveled to Ireland for a month's vacation. He liked it so much that when his plane back to America left, he wasn't on it! He remained behind in the little village of Listowel, Ireland and lived for a year off his savings and the extra pub money he got from window cleaning with a friend he made there. During that time he had the opportunity to travel all over Europe with his friend Mike to England, France, Germany, Belgium (ugh!), Italy, Greece and Austria, meeting fellow travelers and locals and making new friends, many of which he still keeps in contact with today. After his year in Ireland, he moved back to America when his money ran out.
However, that wasn't the end of Sean's European travels. A couple of years and a fortune in phone bills and stamps after moving back to America, he married a girl he met on his first day in Ireland! Though Sean can't advise anyone to embark upon a long-distance, cross-cultural relationship like he did, he is very happy that it turned out the way it did.
Sean currently lives in New Orleans where he works as a network technician (full-time) and as a paramedic (part-time). He also has been known to write now and then.
