Shannon Holman & Erica Harris
BootsnAll Authors
Shannon Holman is a poet whose work has appeared in Crowd, Diagram, Good Foot, La Petite Zine, Pierogi Press, Sí Señor, Swank Writing, and elsewhere. She studied poetry at Oberlin College and New School University.
Shannon grew up in North Carolina and Louisiana. She likes children's encyclopedia, Gregg's shorthand manuals, and coffee.
Anne Carson, Shannon's favorite writer, lives in Canada.
Shannon met painter and illustrator Erica Harris at New Pasteur in New York's Chinatown on November 11th, 2000. Erica likes chickens.
As roving META correspondents, Shannon and Erica are privileged to participate in the Landscape Coin Project.
Given the state of things on the Eastern seaboard, Shannon and Erica figure they may as well take their chances against southeast Asia's giant spiders and dengue fever. On November 2nd, 2002 they begin a year-long Chautauqua through Thailand, Burma, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and southern India.
In previous travels, Shannon's life was saved by a bobbing coconut in the waters off Padangbai, Bali, and Erica worked as an "arts educator" (read: she shared her markers with the local kids) in Oaxaca. Their travels together include visits to McCarthy, Alaska, Black Mountain, NC, and the Outer Banks.
Their philosophy of travel is a tasty ragout of the following notions:
Watch 'em tightrope.
