21 Things I’m Thankful For | 30 Days of Indie Travel Project
21 Things I’m Thankful For | 30 Days of Indie Travel Project This is part of BootsnAll’s 30 Days of Indie Travel project, a daily blogging challenge with a prompt for every day in November 2011. Check out the prompt at the bottom of this post to find out how you can participate! It’s Thanksgiving, so what other prompt could we offer than the idea of giving thanks for all that you are grateful for this year. Whether you’re somewhere far from home or surrounded by family, friends, and a desiccated turkey carcass, here’s hoping you had wonderful Thanksgiving and have much to be thankful for this year! Growing up, I’d never thought of myself as particularly lucky. I came from a lower middle-class family and was raised by a single mother who sacrificed much to send me to a private school which, while offering an excellent education, left me surrounded by affluent students whose lives I imagined to be so much better than my own. They drove BMWs and went to Mexico for spring break. I drove a 12 year old rusted Mustang and spent spring break working minimum wage jobs. I knew there were a lot of people who were less fortunate than me, but as a selfish and sheltered 16 year old, I still lamented the things I didn’t have, and was always envious of my classmates. This Week on BootsnAll: Let’s Talk Food
This Week on BootsnAll: Let’s Talk Food It’s Thanksgiving week, and while this time of year always has us thinking back on what we’re thankful for, it’s also a time of year when food – and the gatherings and celebrations that happen around it – seems to take center stage. So this week we’re leading up to the big turkey feast with some foodie finds to get your stomachs rumbling. First up we’ll take a visual tour of some of Istanbul’s best street food and local delights, then we’ll reveal some strange – and sometimes unappetizing – dessert concoctions that are surprisingly delicious. This Week on BootsnAll: The Holidays Are on Their Way
This Week on BootsnAll: The Holidays Are on Their Way I know, I know. It’s barely November and already we’re talking about holiday travel? Don’t worry, we’re not about to start decking the halls or counting down to New Year’s Eve just yet; we find it just as annoying as everyone else when stores start putting up their Christmas displays before we’ve even gotten over our post-Halloween-candy-binge stomachache. But when it comes to travel – especially around the peak holiday travel days – it pays to be a little ahead of the game. So this week on BootsnAll, we’re focusing on prepping for the holiday travel season. From hooking you up with great Thanksgiving travel deals to cluing you in to the best and worst days to travel for Christmas, whether you want to spend Christmas in New York or New Year’s Eve in France, we can help you plan your holiday travels for less.  On Round the World Wednesday we’ll even help you cope if you’re planning on spending the holidays on the road and away from family. We’ll also give you a bit of trip inspiration if you’re looking to get out of town before the end of year, including some great places to ski in North America.  Get started with  a few ideas for holiday travel:  10 Places You Should Celebrate New Year’s at Least Once  5 Most Unique [...]
