Season for Peak Fees: All YearBig Basin Redwoods State Park is the oldest State Park in California. Itwas acquired in 1902. The park has miles of trails, which serves hikersand equestrians, links Big Basin to Castle Rock State Park and theeastern reach of the Santa Cruz range. The Skyline to the Sea Trailthreads its way through the park along Waddell Creek to the ocean.Backpacking trailcamps on the Skyline to the Sea Trail arereservable only by calling (831)338-8861 between the hoursof 10am - 5pm. The park has a surprising number ofwaterfalls, a wide variety of environments (from lush canyon bottoms tosparse chaparral-covered slopes, many animals (deer, raccoons, anoccasional bobcat) and lots of bird life (including StellerA?s jays,egrets, herons and California woodpeckers). The park is also the home tostately redwood groves.
