Hopeville Pond Sp Campground

Hopeville Pond State Park consists of 544 cares and is located in Griswold CT. Hopeville Pond is a former woolen mill pond and was recognized for its recreational potential in 1930 by the Federal Government who purchased a considerable amount of acreage which was managed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (C.C.C.) until purchased by the State in 1959. The fine work of the C.C.C. is still evident in the pine plantations, forest roads and fire control ponds. The park is also noted for its glacial geologic features. Activities and services in the park include picnicking, freshwater fishing, swimming, boating, field sports, nature trail, hiking, clivus composters, mountain biking, concessions, paved parking, change houses, drinking water and boat launch ramp. The campground consists of 81 wooded campsites near the pond and includes a dumping station, drinking water, showers.
