The name of this park is "Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve." This reserve covers 2,500 acres of coastal upland, wetland, beach and bay on the southern shore of Cape Cod, in the Towns of Falmouth and Mashpee. Washburn Island, in the middle of the Bay offers hiking trails and 11 primitive campsites. While offering limited services, (boat access only, no showers, flush toilets or water) Washburn Island is a special camping experience never to be forgotten.

From Boston: Follow Rte. 3 South to Sagamore Bridge/Cape Cod Canal. Follow Route 6 East over the bridge to Exit 2 and the intersection with Route 130. Follow Route 130 South to Great Neck Road in Mashpee. Just after the Flume restaurant, bear right to the Mashpee Rotary. Halfway around the rotary take Route 28 North. Take a left on a small road immediately after Edwards Boat Yard (4 miles from the Mashpee Rotary). Parking is only available in a large town administered parking area adjacent to the intersection of Route 28.

From Providence/West: Follow Route 495 or Route 195 to Route 25. Route 25 crosses over the Bourne Bridge and becomes Route 28. Follow Route 28 South to Route 151. Follow Route 151 to the Mashpee rotary. Halfway around the rotary take Route 28 North. Take a left on a small road immediately after Edwards Boat Yard (4 miles from the Mashpee Rotary). Parking is only available in a large town administered parking area adjacent to the intersection of Route 28.
