Caroga Lake CampgroundCaroga Lake Campground offers large, level sites to accommodate the smallest tent to the 30' RVs. A Diversified Exercise course with 18 exercise stations wanders through the campground challenging those who enjoy staying physically fit in an outdoor environment. The sandy beach offers a guarded swimming area from mid-June to Labor Day. The campground offers boat, canoe, and kayak rentals to leisurely explore or fish East Caroga Lake. Numerous hiking trails located nearby.The area offers historic interests from the French and Indian and Revolutionary wars. A par-70, 18 hole municipal golf course is located just minutes north of the campground.
The campground is located in the southern portion of the Adirondack Park on East Caroga Lake. The park is 1,460 feet above sea level. The area is basically flat with predominantly hardwood trees such as beech, yellow birch and sugar maple. Conifers such as white pine, hemlock and red spruce are scattered throughout.
There are a lot of attractions at or near Caroga Lake. Sherman Amusement Park features a famous Carousel and live entertainment through Labor Day. There are fishing contests on Sacandaga Lake and re-enactments of the Battle of Johnstown. Popular events include the Bud Ice Motor Cross, Hobie Cat Regatta, Stock Car races, and Colonial Little Theatre to keep the entire family entertained. From the West (Utica - Syracuse): Get off New York State thruway exit 29 in Canajoharie follow Route 10 North to the intersection of Route 29a. Take a right onto 29a going east and the park is about one mile up on the right. It is approximately 20 miles from thruway exit to campground.
From Albany - New York City: Get off New York State thruway exit 28 in Fultonville. Follow Route 30a to Gloversville. Take a left onto 29a going west. After 10 miles you will see park entrance on the left.
From Saratoga: Take Route 29 to 29a. About one and half miles after Vail Mills intersection take a right onto 29a. You will go west on 29a for 16 miles. Then campground is on your left.
