Alger Island is located off the New York State Thruway. Take exit 31 off the New York State Thruway to Route 12 north to Alder Creek. Take Route 28 to Old Forge. Take South Shore road to Petrie road for 3/4 of a mile to Fourth Lake picnic area. From Route 28 (Inlet) take South Shore road to Petrie road 1 mile to Fourth Lake picnic area.
