Kettle Moraine Northern Unit Kettle Moraine S.F.- Northern Unit Web Site provides the opportunity for a variety of outdoor recreational activities.

New Prospect Horseriders Campground Kettle Moraine S.F.- Northern Unit's New Prospect Horseriders Campground Web Site has 12 family sites and 3 group sites that campers with horses can enjoy. It is centrally located on the 33-mile bridle trail that winds the length of the state forest. Amenities include a 48-stall covered stable, a picnic shelter, drinking water, and vault toilets. Each site includes 2 tether poles, fire ring with a partial grate, and a picnic table. Firewood is available for sale at the Mauthe Lake Recreation Area whenever the entrance station is open. Campers and trail users can self-register for vehicle admission stickers and trail passes at the bulletin board. New Prospect Horseriders` Camp is traditionally open from late-April through October.

Greenbush Group Campground Kettle Moraine S.F.- Northern Unit's Greenbush Group Campground Web Site offers a unique tent camping opportunity for large groups up to 60 persons. Vehicle and trailers are restricted to the parking lot at each site. Overflow parking is available in the main parking lot. Each site includes one fire ring with a partial cooking grate, and multiple picnic tables. Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. (Greenbush Group Campground does not have shower facilities.) Sites are located near the Greenbush Trails where campers can enjoy hiking or off-road mountain biking. Campers can self-register for vehicle admission stickers and trail passes at the Self-Registration Pay Station located at main entrance.

Northern Unit Backpack Shelter Campsites Kettle Moraine S.F.- Northern Unit's Northern Unit Backpack Shelter Campsites Web Site are for those that prefer more remote camping and welcome the challenge of hiking to a campsite. Five of the shelters are located along the linear Ice Age Scenic Trail and a sixth is in the midst of the Zillmer Trail System. You must camp at a designated shelter campsite. Each shelter site includes an open air 3-sided structure with sleeping benches, fire ring with a partial cooking grate, and a vault toilet. Drinking water can be found within a one mile walk of each shelter. Backpack shelter campsites are not accessible by vehicle. All equipment must be packed to the site and all refuse packed out. Most trail shelter parking areas are within a half mile of the site. Occupancy is limited to 10 persons per site and is limited to 1 night. (Another site may be reserved for the 2nd night at a 2nd location or 3rd night at a 3rd location.) Only one camping party is allowed per site, per night. Important! Reservations for the backpack shelter campsites cannot be made on the web, please use the Call Center at 1-800-372-3607 to make reservations.

Greenbush Group Camp can be reached off State Highway 57 on the north side of Plymouth. From State Highway 57, take State Highway 23 six miles west to County Road A. Go south on County Road A to County Road T. Continue south on County Road T until Kettle Moraine Drive. Turn left onto Kettle Moraine Drive and continue south to the Greenbush Area located on the right side of the road.

The New Prospect Horseriders' Camp can be reached off of State Highway 45 just a few miles north of Kewaskum. From State Highway 45, take State Highway 67 north to County Road SS. Turn right (south) on County Road SS and proceed east through the Village of New Prospect. The entrance road to Horseriders` Camp is on the south side of County Road SS just before as you leave New Prospect.

Backpack Shelters are spread throughout the 30,000 acres of the Forest. If you need directions to a shelter parking lot, we recommend that you begin your trip at the Henry H. Ruess Ice Age Visitor Center, which is open 7-days-a-week or call (920) 533-8322.
