Late Night Departures from Small Towns
Overnight trains are the best way to get the most bang for your buck - especially if you are in the large city the train will be departing from. However, if you are in a small town off the train line, there is a good chance your ride will come for you at 3 a.m., when even the waiting room may be closed. Keep this in mind when stopping at small towns.
