Bars & Clubs –
Places to Grab a Drink and Party

During the summer, it's hard not to find a place to party in Tarifa. Most of the time, the party spills into the streets, especially around Calle San Francisco in the old part of town. Later, most hardcore partiers head out of town, down the highway to a series of clubs that line the beach. If you've got wheels, or a friend who does, then this is easy. If not, then hitchhiking is always an option, as there are generally a lot of people headed out of town. However, be safe about it, and remember, if you can't find a ride back, you'll be walking (4 or 5 km at 4 or 5am is a lot more than you think, trust me).

La Misiana (Sancho IV El Bravo): A great place to start the night Spanish style (meaning around midnight). Located next to Café Central, La Misiana is a nice, relaxed bar, perfect for ordering a couple drinks and having some good conversation while sitting on comfortable loveseats or at outside tables on the main drag. The bar is only open until 2am.

Bearhouse Irish Pub (Sancho IV El Bravo): For those who look for an Irish Pub wherever they wander, this is the only one in Tarifa. If you really can't stand to go out Spanish style, go here for your pints and pub atmosphere.

Soul Café (C/ Santísima Trinidad): A hip bar complete with pool tables, to keep you entertained early in the night.

La Ruina (C/ Santísima Trinidad): Located above Soul Café, this bar/club plays house music and is a fun atmosphere for partying. Above the circular bar are a small dance floor and a catwalk that leads to the deejay's turntables. When it gets too hot inside, the bartenders crank open a huge skylight anchored by industrial-sized rope that makes for a beautiful view of the stars.

La Jaima (C.N. 340): This is one of the most popular clubs in Tarifa. It's located just a couple of kilometers outside of the main town, heading north on C.N. 340. The club isn't much more than an oversized straw hut surrounded by a bar counter, but there's something about its tropical feel and the carefree attitude of the clubbers that draws in the crowds.

Venta el Tito (C.N. 340 km 81): This is a low-key bar setting located 4 km outside of Tarifa, right off of the beach. The entire bar is set outside, which makes it ideal for those relaxed summer nights.
