Name of Hostel Peace & Love Hostel
Address 245 Rue La Fayette
75010
City Paris, France
How to get there The Metro; very close to the Jaures line.
Dates of Stay July 2003
Length of Stay 4 nights

Cost 24 Euros    (Currency converter)
Discount Options Probably, but I didn't ask.
Services/Features The pub hostel lives up to its name with a motley assortment of students and passers-by in the ground-level bar. They give clean sheets if asked, but if you want two sheets you have to pay extra.

What I liked about it I booked it because it was recommended to me, but I loved it. Although we were a bit confused as to the bed situation at first, we found out that one of us paid less to sleep on a pallet on the floor. It had a shower ensuite which, though tiny, was nice for privacy. The fifth floor was a bit of a hike after a few beers, but the view of the Seine was cool. There is an internet area where you can check email for a fee. The doors are locked at 2am which is good for security, though the front desk guy grumbles when you pound on the door, wasted, to be let in. It was actually 3-person with a bunkbed & a pallet.
What I didn't like about it Jaures is a little sketchy; my female suite mate and I walked around a bit in search of beer and sights and found ourselves on the wrong side of the train tracks. If you're looking for privacy & quiet, this probably isn't the place unless you want to rent an entire room to yourself.
What was the staff like No complaints
Would I stay there again Yes
Overall Vibe and Opinion I had a great time, instantly bonded with my suite mates and spent all my time in Paris with them and even got an invite to the South of France. I liked the randomness of the bar; at one point I was sitting at a table and a kitten hopped onto my lap. I got drink discounts for ordering in French (the bartender seemed to like that). Just remember... "Je voudrais de la biere, s'il vous plait!"
