Why stay in Bordeaux?

For those who think that Bordeaux is just a type of wine, let this be a lesson to you - there is a city behind the grape. Bordeaux is a rather large cosmopolitan city with a good sized student population and plenty of historic monuments and shopping to keep any visitor entertained for a few days. Oh, and about the wines - yes, they are some of the best on earth, and if you are a wine enthusiast you will not be disappointed. In fact, you may never want to leave.

Bordeaux might be a big city, but its central area is easily navigated on foot or by bicycle. If your hostel is not located in the central area you should be able to get back and forth via the bus or tram systems. There are only a few budget accommodations in Bordeaux, however, and only one hostel - so be sure to book early. Keep in mind that "hostels" are not just for young people or the backpacking crowd (even if the place has the word "backpacker" in the name!) - hostels are ideal for budget-conscious travelers who are interested in meeting other travelers. A few Bordeaux hostels worth mentioning are highlighted below.

Choiseul Hotel is in the center of the city near the best shopping center in Bordeaux. Hotel Studio is also in the town center and is a basic but comfortable place to stay.

Hotel Clemenceau is in an 18th century house and offers 45 sound proofed rooms. Hotel de Famille-Bordeaux is in the city center near the main sights and shopping areas.

If none of these hostels sounds like it will be perfect for your needs, never fear. There are other Bordeaux hostels where those came from. Just keep reading the listings until you find the one that sounds best to you.

Is there anything else we can help you with for your trip? Remember that you can look for the best deals on international airfare to France and book your ticket now. You can also learn more about the area in our Bordeaux Travel Guide.
