Pisa Hostel Reservations

Pisa is more than a leaning tower, although that is the only thing most visitors stop long enough to see. There is a gigantic baptistry a stone's throw from the famous tower, and the cathedral between those two buildings is also beautiful. Yes, the area right around the tower and the cathedral is overly touristy, but if you get yourself away from the crowds you will find a pleasant Italian city in which to spend a day or two. Pisa's location also makes it a nice base from which to explore some of what the area has to offer.

There is a good network of city buses that run around Pisa, so you should have no trouble getting around the city and to and from your hostel by bus if not on foot. Remember that many budget accommodations in Italy do not go by the name "hostel" but rather use the word "hotel" or "guesthouse" instead. Also keep in mind that "hostels" are not just for young people or the backpacking crowd (even if the place has the word "backpacker" in the name!) - hostels are ideal for budget-conscious travelers who are interested in meeting other travelers. Hotel di Stefano is a short walk from the cathedral and leaning tower and has a terrace with views of the tower. Camping Village Torre Pendente is less than one kilometer from the leaning tower and offers an economic way to stay in the city. Rifugio delle Poiane is just outside the city center and has apartments as well as individual rooms for rent.
