• Demonstrates your initiative and motivation. Instead of drinking and partying all the time, you chiseled out at least one term where you gained extra knowledge for your field. (Not that there's anything wrong with drinking and partying; we at BootsnAll strongly believe in multi-tasking.)

• Builds your resume and portfolio with in-the-field experience. Instead of saying that all you've done was get a degree, you can say that you also worked on X project with our president, or built and maintained a travel guide from the ground up. The classroom can provide a great foundation, but an internship with us helps you develop in a "real world" environment – and that's invaluable to employers.

• Lets you work where your passions lie. We founded and run BootsnAll with the belief that work isn't just about grunt drudgery (some of it is, but not all), and that work can also be about doing something you love. We are passionate about travel and about helping people; that is why BootsnAll exists, and why we 4 love our jobs. We want this extended to interns. Our journalism interns, for example, write because they are passionate about writing, words, travel, new experiences, you name it, and we want to encourage every intern we get to follow their own passions too.
