Airfare to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire
Although no longer the official capital of Cote d’Ivoire, Abidjan is the largest city in the nation and most important port. It is also still considered to be the de facto capital of the country. Abidjan has been strongly affected by the Ivorian Civil War, starting in 2002. For more information on Abidjan, check out BootsnAll’s Cote d’Ivoire Travel Guide.
You will find a few deals on Abidjan airfare listed on this page, and if you want to search further we have two different search engines right here, too. The left one will help you search the big name airfare websites with one click – these tickets come with very few restrictions, but are not always the cheapest out there. The right search tool has the cheaper fares from our consolidators, but the tickets come with restrictions. If you can be flexible with your travel plans, the deals are great!
Here are a few good tips to help you find cheap airfare to Abidjan:
- Consider flights into Accra, Ghana. To get to Abidjan from Accra, you can grab a spot on a train, bus or short hopper flight. Look for cheap flights on no frills airlines. Although it will take longer to reach your destination, a bus or train could save you enough cash to make it worth your while.
- Look for flights that go through Nairobi, Kenya; Cape Town, South Africa; Lagos, Nigeria or another major gateway city instead of flying direct. Because there are more flights – and competition – from these cities on low budget airlines, you can save some cash over flying non-stop to your destination. It is very common to layover in one of these main cities, anyway.
- Consider traveling on a lesser-known carrier. Air Ivoire is the national airline. However, Air France, KLM and several other airlines also stop in Abidjan.
- Airfare to Abidjan will be the cheapest on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday. Mondays are popular with business travellers and weekends are key dates for holidaymakers wanting the longest trips possible – avoid these dates. The most expensive air tickets to Abidjan are found during peak holiday travel times, such as the New Year. Also be aware of national events or festivals, which can also cause ticket prices to rise.
