Although the capital of Nigeria is in more central Abuja, Lagos remains the most populous city in the country. There are two ports, an active movie industry deemed ‘Nollywood’, and a passionate following of both sport and local music groups. For more information on Lagos, check out BootsnAll’s Nigeria Travel Guide.

We would like to help you find great deals on Lagos airfare, so if you do not see the deal you want on the list of featured airline tickets here, use one of the search boxes on this page. The search box on the left lets you search all the big airfare websites (and some smaller ones, too) at once, by filling in one form. These tickets do not have many restrictions on them, but they are not always the cheapest prices you could find. The search box on the right lets you see our great consolidator fares, and while these tickets usually come with super low prices they also come with restrictions.

Here are a few more tips to help you find cheap airfare to Lagos:

  • Consider flights into Porto Novo, Benin. To get from Porto Novo to Lagos, you can grab a spot on a train, bus or flight. Look for cheap flights on no frills airlines. Sosoliso Airlines, Chanchangi Airlines and IRS Airlines fly to Lagos. Although it will take longer to reach your destination, a bus or train could save you enough cash to make it worth your while.
  • Look for flights that go through Nairobi, Kenya; Cape Town, South Africa or another major gateway city instead of flying direct. Because there are more flights – and competition – from these cities on low budget airlines, you can save some cash over flying non-stop to your destination. It is very common to layover in one of these main cities.
  • Consider traveling on a lesser-known carrier. Virgin Nigeria Airways is the national airline. However, British Airways and other airlines also stop in Lagos.
  • Airfare to Lagos will be the cheapest on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday. Mondays are popular with business travellers and weekends are key dates for holidaymakers wanting the longest trips possible – avoid these dates. The most expensive air tickets to Lagos are found during peak holiday travel times, such as the New Year. Also be aware of national events or festivals, which can also cause ticket prices to rise.
