Airfare to Barbados
It can be surprisingly easy to find discount airfare to Barbados. It’s a small island and only a few of the major airlines fly directly into the country’s main airport – Sir Grantley Adams International Airport (code: BGI) in Bridgetown, but it’s a large and modern airport with frequent flights so airfare to Barbados is not as high as you might expect.
Which airlines have flights to Barbados?
American, Delta, and United all fly into Barbados nonstop from the United States, and Air Canada, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic also service the island from their home countries. If you are coming from the United States, chances are you’ll be changing planes in either the Miami or New York City areas if you didn’t originate there.
The good news is that discount airfare to Barbados is also offered from most other major cities. Often the prices for flights to Barbados are the same or only slightly higher for people who need to change planes on the way as for people coming directly from one of the major hubs.
Saving money on your flight to Barbados
The lowest airfare prices to Barbados are usually for flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Even if you want to fly on a weekend it’s not a bad idea to check prices for midweek so you can see just how different the prices in airfare can be.
Peak travel season to Barbados is during the Christmas and New Years weeks. If you want to travel then you should book way in advance as prices will just continue to go up. High season lasts from December through March, so going just before or just after that can save money, but there are fewer flights during low season so prices don’t go down too much.
