Airfare to St. Lucia
This country is small and fairly remote so it can be challenging finding discount airfare to St. Lucia. The country has two main airports that each get quite a bit of international traffic. George FL Charles Airport (code: SLU) is closer to most of the resorts, but it’s smaller and is often a bit more expensive. Hewanorra International (code: UVF) is further from most resorts, but their larger airfield makes for more frequent service and usually lower airfare.
Which airlines have flights to St. Lucia?
As is true in much of the Caribbean, American Airlines dominates these routes. Their commuter subsidiary of American Eagle has frequent service through their busy Puerto Rico hub, but American Airlines itself also flies from Miami. A few small local airlines also serve St. Lucia, but for the lowest airfares you are usually best off looking at American. The same situation exists at both of these St. Lucia airports.
From Europe there are no direct flights, but you can reach the island through stops in Puerto Rico or St. Maarten, which are both easily reached from London, Amsterdam, or Paris on several different airlines.
Saving money on your flight to St. Lucia
The peak season in this whole region is during Christmas and New Years. If you want to come then, it’s best to book well in advance because prices tend to just keep going up. January through March is very busy, so early December and April can often have lower airfares. If you are coming on short notice, the best bet for discount airfare is to book on Tuesday or Wednesday, since weekend flights usually book up first.
