Airfare to Catamarca, Argentina
San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca (or just Catamarca) is a city in northwestern Argentina. It is located on the Río Valle River, at the feet of the Cerro Ambato, 1130 km from Buenos Aires.
It is a popular place among pilgrims who come to visit the Church of the Virgin of the Valley which is home to the statue of Our Lady of the Valley. The city also serves as a hub for many tourist activities such as hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and wine tasting.
It is served by Coronel Felipe Varela International Airport (CTC). It receives flights offered by Aerolíneas Argentinas from Buenos Aires and La Rioja. The charter airline American Jet offers connections to Tucuman and Campo Arenal.
Unfortunately it is not possible to book online flights from either Buenos Aires or La Rioja into Catamarca. Your best bet is to book the first leg of the flight and then get the domestic part solved when you arrive in Argentina.
As for flying into Argentina, it’s cheaper to choose to land in Buenos Aires than in La Rioja, whether you fly out of New York or Los Angeles. You can choose among several airlines: Copa Airlines, Taca Intl Air, Delta or United, all offering excellent fares if you fly out of LAX. If you fly out of Europe you are limited to choosing Iberia.
In order to save some money, book the ticket ahead of time and avoid flying during the peak travel days and months.
