Airfare to Cordoba, Argentina
Cordoba is the second largest city in Argentina. It is located in the heart of the Argentinean territory on the Pampas and is surrounded by valleys. The city is well known for colonial buildings in the center as well as for the beautiful hills in the surroundings.
The many universities make Cordoba one of the youngest and liveliest cities in South America. The nightlife is exciting and there are a lot of cultural activities going on.
The oldest buildings can be found in the surroundings of the Plaza San Martín, but some of the most pleasant areas are Nueva Córdoba and the area around the Cañada.
The city is served by the International Airport Ingeniero Talavella, which is located about 10 km from the city center. It receives flights from various Argentine cities, as well as from Lima, Santiago de Chile and Porto Alegre. For those arriving from overseas, the mandatory stop is in Buenos Aires (or Santiago de Chile).
The airfare from Buenos Aires to Cordoba and from Santiago de Chile to Cordoba is similar and the flights are offered by Aerolineas Argentina and LAN Airlines, respectively. Whether you choose one city or another for your stop-over, depend on the airfare to get to that city.
For example, if you fly from New York, it is cheaper to fly into Santiago de Chile ($872 RT on Taca Intl Air) than to fly into Buenos Aires ($966 RT on Copa Airlines); while if you fly from London the airfare is about the same ($1258 RT on Iberia to Santiago and $1270 RT on Iberia to Buenos Aires).
In order to save some money, make sure to book your ticket in advance and avoid flying over the weekend. Also, check the airlines’ special offers and make sure to plan your vacation around their lowest fares.
