El Calafate is a small town in Patagonia, Argentina. It has rapidly grown thanks to tourists who use it as base for exploring the scenic area. El Calafate is located on the southern border of Lake Argentino and close to the Perito Moreno Glacier.
It is served by Comandante Armando Tola International Airport, located about 21 km from the city. The airport is served by Aerolíneas Argentinas, Aerochaco, LAN Argentina and LADE and they offer flights to Cordoba, Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Río Grande and other Argentine cities.
It is both cheap and fast to fly from Buenos Aires to El Calafate. Aerolineas Argentinas offers flights starting at $308 round trip. So, it only makes sense to fly into Buenos Aires first and then catch a local flight to El Calafate.
