Airfare to Mar del Plata, Argentina
Mar del Plata is a city famous for its beaches, located about 400 km south of Buenos Aires, Argentina. During summer (December to March) the beaches are crowded with tourists soaking up the sun.
The city is large and offers a lot of things to do even outside the summer season. You can check out the seashells collection at the Museo del Mar or take a walk in the city to see the beautiful architecture. No visit here is complete without watching a tango show.
The city is served by ástor Piazzola International Airport (MDQ), located 7 km north of the city center. It receives domestic flights from Aerolíneas Argentinas, Austral Líneas Aéreas, Sol Líneas Aéreas and Líneas Aéreas del Estado (LADE). There are direct flights to/from Buenos Aires, Córdoba, El Calafate or Bariloche.
The easiest way to get to Mar del Plata is by plane from Buenos Aires. The flight is offered by Aerolineas Argentina and takes little under an hour. And it’s affordable as well ($172 RT).
If you need to get from the US to Buenos Aires make sure to check out several possible routes. For example it is cheaper to fly from Miami ($797RT on Aerolineas Argentinas) than it is to fly from LAX ($897RT on Continental, Taca Intl Air, Delta or United) or JFK ($966RT on Copa Airlines). Likewise, if you fly from Europe, London is a good choice because of the many airlines serving the city.
In order to save some money, book the flight in advance and make sure to check the airlines’ special offers. Also, be flexible when it comes to the departure airport. Avoid the peak travel season and try not to fly over the weekend either.
