Airfare to San Juan, Argentina
San Juan is the capital of San Juan Province in Argentina. It is located in a valley, surrounded by mountains. Winters are mild (1 to 18C) while summers are scorching hot (25 to 40C).
Tourism here revolves around wine production and the super nature surrounding the city. A special attraction of the city is the Triassic period fossil record. An interesting archeology museum located about 25 km from the city is also worth your time.
The city is served by Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Airport (UAQ) located 15 km from the city. It is served by Aerolíneas Argentinas and LAN Argentina and receives flights only from Buenos Aires ($313RT, direct flight).
Alternatively, you can get to the city by bus (or car). It is situated on National Route 40, which connects San Juan with Mendoza (168 km) to the south and La Rioja (449 km) to the north.
Still, the easiest way to get to San Juan is by flight from Buenos Aires. If you fly from the US make sure to check the different routes into Buenos Aires. It’s cheaper to fly from Miami ($698RT on Aerolineas Argentinas and a direct flight) rather than from Los Angeles ($897RT on Continental, Mexicana, Delta, United and all are indirect flights). If you need to fly from Europe, choose London as departure airport as the flights are cheaper than from other large European hubs.
To save some money on flights make sure to book your ticket ahead of time and avoid the peak travel months and days. Also, put those saved miles to good use and make sure to check the airlines’ special offers as well.
