San Andrés is a picture-perfect Caribbean destination for those looking for excellent diving, sandy beaches, exciting nightlife and exciting cuisines. The city of San Andrés is a duty-free port which makes it a heaven for shoppers.
San Andrés is an island in the archipelago with the same name, identified as a World Biosphere Reserve and located 720 km/480 miles off the Colombian Caribbean Coast.
The island of San Andrés can be reached by air, via charter flights. If you fly from a Colombian city, you can book one of the flights offered by Avianca, Satena or Aerorepublica. Should you fly from the United States, you can book flights on United Airlines, Continental Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Airlines, but you’ll be making a stop along the way.
Most flights connect in Bogota, Colombia, but there are other Colombian cities you can fly into before heading to San Andrés. Alternatively you can fly into Panama City (Panama) and then fly to San Andrés.
To save money, look for all the possible routes to San Andrés and definitely consider flying into a major South American hub and the taking one of the local flights to San Andrés. The island is a tourist destination year round but tourists tend to flock here during the dry season (January to May) and if you want to save some money try to avoid the travel peaks. Fly during the weekdays if possible.
