Airfare to Cuenca, Ecuador
Cuenca is considered to be the most attractive city in Ecuador. Although the third largest city in the country, it retains the charm of a smaller town. Perched at about 2400 m (7,800 ft), the city is blessed with moderate climate, which allows visitors to enjoy good weather year round. Founded partly on an Inca settlement, the city still maintains some of the old colonial buildings and architecture. Known as the Athens of the Andes, Cuenca is filled with places to visit.
The city is served by an airport, which receives flights from TAME, LAN Ecuador and Aero Galapagos. There are local flights from Quito, Guayaquil and other Ecuadorian cities. Regardless of where you fly from, you’ll be making at least one stop along the way, either in Quito or Guayaquil.
The cheapest way to fly into Cuenca is by making two stops along the way (in Quito and Guayaquil), that’s in case you don’t mind spending time in airports. Otherwise, if you fly on Aero Galapagos and make a stop in Guayaquil you’ll be paying more (about $200) and save half of the travel time. You can save some money by flying during the low (rainy) season, which falls between January and May.
