Airfare to Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
The Galapagos Islands is an archipelago, located in the Pacific Ocean, 972 km west of continental Ecuador. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the islands are famous for their wildlife. On each island the number of visitors is limited and there are also a number of limited official landings.
There are a lot of interesting things to do on the islands. Visiting the Giant Tortoise breeding center is one of the highlights of the vacation. And getting to see the unique species such as the Galapagos penguin and Galapagos flamingo is also an interesting experience.
Due to being so remote and because of the restrictions, visiting the Galapagos Islands is not cheap but it’s relatively easy to reach the islands. Daily flights depart from Quito and Guayaquil to Isla Baltra airport, which is located about two hours from the main settlement of the archipelago. Also, daily flights are available to San Cristóbal, located just 20 min walk from the center of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.
Both Aerogal and Tame offer flights to the Galapagos Islands. Both fly from Quito and Guayaquil but it’s better to choose the flights from Guayaquil City as the fares are significantly lower. If you want to save some money plan to fly during the low-season (May to September).
