Airfare to Tumbes, Peru
Tumbes is located in northwestern Peru, on the banks of the Tumbes River. The city is popular for the superb beaches, mangroves and excellent resorts. The river and the national parks offer a lot of opportunities to spend time in nature.
The city is served by Capitán FAP Pedro Canga Rodríguez Airport, the main airport of the Tumbes Region. Thanks to offering an easy way to get to Peru’s superb beaches and resorts, the airport is used by many national and international travelers. Currently, the airport is served only by LAN Peru. However, Iberia has expressed an interest in offering flights to Tumbes from Europe. American Airlines and Continental plan to offer flights to Tumbes from the US.
Getting to Tumbes from the States is not exactly a simple or cheap adventure. Because of LAN’s monopoly, the domestic flights to Tumbes aren’t cheap at all. So the best thing is to find the cheap flights to Lima so that you save at least on this leg of the flight. Alternatively, you can get on a bus and travel along the Panamerican Highway from Lima to Tumbes.
