June 14
Flag Day Ceremony
The Ocean City Mayor and City Council salutes the good 'ol Stars and Stripes in this annual ceremony on the boardwalk. Drop by and pay your respects to the national symbol on its special day.

June 14-16
53rd Annual Chicken Festival
Yup – this festival is indeed in honor of those plump, flightless birds. Wait! Don't load up your pet chick in that station wagon just yet: this is a family festival that celebrates the Delmarva poultry industry. Bring your bib and appetite: these birds will be served up every which way you can imagine. Other highlights include a giant frying pan, arts and crafts, and live entertainment including a "duck derby" (more than one chicken will be cursing those lucky ducks).
Festival is held in Pocomoke City, Maryland (30 miles outside Ocean City), and admission is free.

June 15-17
Offshore Power Boat Race
They're loud and they're fast, and they'll be racing parallel to beach on June 17. Race boats will be on display at the Sunset Marina in West Ocean City on Friday, June 15, 4-8 pm, and on Saturday, June 16, 10am-8pm. Live music and a "Key West race party festival" (whatever that may be) will also be held at the marina on Saturday. The big race will start Sunday at 1 pm at the Ocean Club on 49th Street and the ocean. The course will run parallel to the beach between 1st Street and 55th Street.
June 20
Maryland State Firemen's Parade
The fireman's convention is an annual event that invades Ocean City every June. Their parade is a big one, featuring fire trucks, blaze-fighting equipment, marching bands, and color guards. Parade starts at 1pm.
July 4
Jamboree in the Park
Independence Day is the all-American holiday. Ocean City celebrates in a family-friendly way, offering this jamboree filled with games, arts and crafts, food vendors, and live musical entertainment. The grand finale? You guessed it: the traditional firework display, which sparks at 9:30pm. The Jamboree begins at noon and continues through 11 pm.

July 4
Concert and Fireworks on the Beach
Ocean City can't be faulted for not being patriotic enough. It celebrates the 4th of July with not one, but two firework displays. This concert and firework combo should satisfy anyone who is staying downtown, and who doesn't feel like trekking to Northside Park for the Jamboree. Be sure to bring a blanket or beach chair to stake out a space on the sand before the light show explodes over the ocean. Concert begins around 8pm; fireworks light up at 9:30pm.

Christmas in July
Some people can't get enough of Christmas, while others need more excuses to shop. This event on Main Street in Berlin takes care of both types. Christmas in July is a 2-week shopping extravaganza complete with entertainment and holiday-decorated shops.

July 12-15
14th Annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament
Ahhh, fishing and drinking: two Ocean City staples. This annual tournament features four days of dockside parties, pig roasts and nightly cook-outs. Oh yeah - there's big game fishing as well, with a purse of $250,000 offered for anyone who bags a World-Record breaking catch. Registration is on Thursday, with fishing taking place from Friday through Sunday (weigh-ins from 4 to 7:30 pm).

July 27-29
Greek Festival
A bit of culture can still be found in this resort town. The Greek Festival is an annual event put on by the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, and features ethnic food, pastries and music. Stop by to see folk dancing performances and live entertainment for the entire family. There is a admission charge. Held Friday and Saturday, noon to 11pm; and Sunday, noon-9pm.
