This hostel set in south east Portland is close to shopping districts and the mass transit system. Travelers have access to a washer and dryer, a full kitchen, lounge, off-street parking and bike storage. Internet stations with DSL are available for $1 per 16 minutes. Every morning they provide a self-made pancake breakfast for $1 and complimentary pastries and bread. During the summer months, stroll through their fruit and vegetable garden for a healthy snack.
Directions
From Greyhound/Amtrak Station: Take Tri-Met bus 14 Hawthorne on Fifth Avenue directly behind the Greyhound station. Get off at the 30th Avenue stop. Look for the big white house with green trim.
From Portland International Airport: Take MAX Light Rail train to downtown and transfer to bus 14 on Fifth Avenue. Take bus 14 until 30th Avenue stop, which is across the street from the hostel.
Driving South on I-205: take I-84 West to the 43rd Avenue exit. Turn left at exit ramp stop light and go to 39th Avenue. Turn left on 39th Avenue, which will take you over the freeway and down to Hawthorne. Take a right. The hostel is located between 30th and 31st Avenues.
Driving South on I-5: Take exit 300B toward OMSI. Follow the OMSI signs down the left fork on the exit ramp. Drive straight following the signs for Belmont Street. Take Belmont Street to 30th Avenue and turn right. Follow 30th Avenue to Hawthorne Blvd. and turn left. The hostel is on the left on the first block.
Driving North on I-5: Stay in the left lanes and take I-405 (exit 299B) to Front Avenue (exit 1A). Turn right onto Front Avenue/Naito Parkway and drive down to Hawthorne Bridge. Take the Hawthorne Bridge across the river to 30th Avenue. The hostel will be between 30th and 31st Avenues.

This HI hostel is located near downtown in the popular Northwest Nob Hill Neighborhood. Browse the nearby shops, brew pubs, theaters, galleries and nightlife in this historic section of the city. The hostel itself is a restored turn-of-the-century historic building. They offer an on-site coffee bar, complimentary pastries and bread, and ice cream sundaes are served every Sunday evening for $1. One block away, the Mission Brew Pub theatre shows movies for $2 to $3. During the summer months, experience the free weekly music concerts in neighboring parks. From Airport: Take red line MAX train to Pioneer Square, transfer to blue line, exit at PGE Park, walk north on 18th Avenue 6 blocks to Glisan Street.
From Train or Bus: walk south 1 block, then right on Glisan, 12 blocks to hostel (10 minutes) or ride #17 bus free by exiting at 15th & Glisan and walking 3 blocks west.
From South: Take I-405 (exit 299B), exit on Everett St., left on Glisan St., and three blocks to hostel.
From North: Take I-405 (exit 302B), exit on Everett St., follow signs around block to Glisan, hostel is 3 blocks, on left.

This hotel was built in 1902 and offers "the basics" to travelers. It is located in the heart of downtown Portland near Pioneer Square Mall, many cafés, restaurants, bars and clubs. Ask about their 5- and 6-night stay specials.
Directions
Driving North on I-5: Stay in the left lanes and take I-405 (exit 302B). Immediately get into the right hand lane and take the Fourth Street exit. Follow Fourth Street down to Alder.
Driving South on I-5: Take the I-405/St. Helens (US-30 W) exit toward Beaverton/Ocean Beaches. Merge onto I-405 and take the Couch Street/Burnside Street exit (exit 2A). Turn left on NW 15th Avenue, and follow it until you get to Alder Street. Follow Alder until you get to Fourth Avenue.
From Greyhound/Amtrak station: take MAX Light Rail south to the Third and Morrison Avenue stop. Head north one block to Alder, then turn left and go up to Fourth Avenue.

McMenamins Edgefield provides European-style lodging on a 38-acre estate just 20 minutes east of downtown Portland, 15 minutes from the Portland International Airport and 5 minutes from the Columbia Gorge. The estate is also on the bus/MAX Light Rail line.
The Edgefield estate was originally built in 1911 and served as the Multnomah County Poor Farm where people who were down on their luck could work for room and board. Edgefield is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and its renovated rooms still send travelers back in time. Walk the hardwood floors and view the original artwork that covers most of the walls in the buildings. The expansive grounds and buildings include a vineyard and wine tasting room, brewery, distillery, 18-hole, par-3 golf course, restaurants, specialty bars, gardens, a gift shop and a theatre. Other amenities include licensed massage therapists and several events throughout the year. Private rooms include a complimentary breakfast in The Black Rabbit Restaurant, and ask about their special package deals.

Mt. Hood Village is a popular resort for skiers during the winter and hikers year-round. They are located approximately 25 miles from the ski areas on Mt. Hood and 45 miles east of Portland. The Cabin Suites were recently added last Memorial Day weekend and now come complete with a small kitchen and private stand-up shower. Other cabins are rustic rooms for sleeping and require use of the communal restroom and showers. Travelers must bring their own bed sheets. The resort also provides a recreation room complete with pool tables, ping pong, foosball, big-screen TV and a playground for the kids.

From Downtown Portland: Take I-84 East to Exit 16 (Wood Village, Gresham, Mt. Hood). Stay to the right as you head south 6 miles, then turn left (east) onto Burnside Street. Burnside turns into Highway 26 East after about a mile. Take Highway 26 through the town of Sandy. About 15 miles east of Sandy, you will see the Mt. Hood Village sign on the right.
Driving north on I-5: Take I-5 North to I-205, then to the Hwy 212 exit. Stay on 212 until it intersects with Hwy 26. Bear right (east) to Sandy. Take Highway 26 through the town of Sandy. About 15 miles east of Sandy, you will see the Mt. Hood Village sign on your right.
Driving south on I-5: Take I-5 South to I-205, then to I-84 East toward The Dalles. Continue on I-84 East to Exit 16 (Wood Village, Gresham, Mt. Hood. Stay to the right as you head south about 6 miles, then turn left (east) onto Burnside Street. Burnside turns into Highway 26 East after about a mile. Continue on Hwy 26 through the town of Sandy. About 15 miles east of Sandy, you will see the Mt. Hood Village sign on the right.

Woodburn RV Park is located just off the I-5 freeway in Woodburn, which is about 30 miles south of Portland. They offer a seasonal swimming pool, laundry and shower for travelers. Adjacent to the RV park, travelers can shop at the Woodburn Company Stores, an outlet mall featuring names such as Gap, Banana Republic, Levi, Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren and more.
Driving South on I-5: Take I-5 South toward Salem. Travel about 30 miles, then take the OR-214 exit toward Silverton/Woodburn (exit 271). You will see the Woodburn Company Stores on your right. Turn right on OR-214, then turn right on N Arney Rd.
