The Ashland Springs Hotel is by far the most recognizable landmark in town. Rising nine-stories above Main Street the building fairly dwarfs the surrounding townscape. Located in the center of downtown the hotel provides easy access to the Shakespeare Festival as well as shopping along Main Street.

The entire building is newly renovated and the result is a luxury hotel capable of satisfying the most discerning guest. The grand lobby, replete with thick rugs, potted palms and collections of seashells and other curiosities, is but a glimpse of what is in store. For many this glimpse may be all they get. Staying the night in the lap-of-luxury does not come cheaply, rooms range from $130 to over $200 during the summer months and are only slightly reduced during the less popular seasons.

The location of this popular inn is perfect for walks in Lithia Park or shopping in the plaza shops. The inn offers an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi; in the morning, they serve a complimentary continental breakfast. Peak season rates $148 to $188 per night.

This quaint hotel is easy to miss while walking along Main Street, a single door with Columbia Hotel etched into the glass sits recessed and out of view and the HOTEL sign affixed to the building is slightly obscured by the trees and neighboring awnings. Those that do see the door, open it and climb the wooden stairs are rewarded by a truly comfortable old-style hotel.

Sunlight falls through the large skylight illuminating the lobby and its soft sofas. Old radiator heaters line the halls leading to the twenty-four rooms. One could spend a good portion of the day reading in the relaxed, quiet interior. Summer rates range from $64 to $105 per night.

A little distance can save you a lot when it comes to lodging in Ashland. The Knights Inn is located two miles from downtown and offers a comfortable stay at for a reasonable rate. An additional benefit to staying on the south side of town is the proximity to the Wild Goose Restaurant, a local breakfast favorite. Peak season rates range from $68 to $78 per night.

Ashland Hostel

Just a few blocks from downtown the Ashland Hostel offers reasonably priced accommodation for travelers on a budget. The hostel is a large house capable of sleeping 50 people. It has a kitchen, laundry and separate showers for men and women. Price for a dorm-style room is $20 per night while a private room runs $50.

Located six miles south of downtown Ashland the Glenyan campground is great summer option for affordable lodging. The campground caters to tent campers and many of the sites lie along a creek. There is a store, laundry facilities and a pool located on the property. Additional swimming as well as boating are close by at Emigrant Lake, located a half-mile south. Peak season rate for a tent site is $18.50 per night.

For those in search of a truly unique camping experience look no further, Jackson Wellsprings will likely fit the bill. The large grassy tent camping area is flanked by a nice stand of aspens and the grounds are interspersed with larger trees, which offer shade. The price of a tent site also gains campers access to the pool and the natural hot springs, definitely a bonus! Travelers can even stay the night in a tipi complete with electricity!

Rate for tent camping is $14 for the first person and $8 for each additional person per night. Tipi rental is $25 for the first person and $8 for each additional person per night.

Bed and Breakfasts

Ashland has an abundance of B&Bs. A quick scan through the Yellow Pages results in some 40 listings. Those in the business claim the actual number is in the upper fifties. With so many options, how does one decide where to stay?

Well, the clever B&B folks have figured this one out: 33 of them have joined to create the Ashland Bed and Breakfast Network. The site contains a directory, map, rates and detailed descriptions of each B&B.

Many of Ashland's B&Bs are scattered through the quiet, tree-lined streets which surround downtown, perfect locations for early morning or evening strolls. Nearly all are within easy walking distance from the center of town.

Prices range from $95 to $295 per night during the peak season.
