NEWS FROM THE OFFICE
Words from the BootsCrew

  • Introducing Jessica Spiegel: JessieS, formerly Jessie796, is now rocking the BootsnAll world as Community Manager.

Jessie has traveled throughout Europe, with a particular interest in Italy (she speaks Italian, which means we are going to make her start ordering the pizza). She has been married for 3 years (and chose Scotland as the country to do the deed) and is the proud mother of 3 cats.

We're committed to keeping the BnA community and message boards growing, and a great place to get travel information and hang out with others with wanderlust in their souls. Jessica will be working more closely with the Moderators to ensure the boards are a positive environment and encouraging all new members to become active participants. You can read Jessica's full bio here. Contact Jessica at Jessica@BootsnAll.com

WHERE NEXT?
New frontiers for modern-day explorers and independent travel

Sixteenth Stop: Dominican Republic

A return to free elections and the call of white sandy beaches have been too much for travelers to ignore: the Dominican Republic is back on the travel map. With less than 9 million people, the country has struggled to recover from devastating hurricanes and civil discord, but an increased focus on tourism, the nation has positioned itself as the place to go in the Caribbean.

Read two stories from the Dominican Republic published this month: Nancy Bevilaqua's Night out in Santo Domingo and Naithin Rogers' adventure in La Republica Dominicana

INSIDER INFO - How-To: WWOOF Around the World
Cat George explains how to get the best out of traveling as a WWOOFer.

The girl in the hostel bunk above you just said she was "going to woof", so now you're wondering---is barking like a dog the next big thing in budget travel? Nope; she's actually "going to WWOOF", joining the ranks of travelers exploring World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms. I tried out WWOOFing in Australia and found myself enjoying unique experiences miles from the backpacker trail: catching freshwater crayfish, baking lemon slices at an art retreat, and attending a church picnic in the outback hills.
