RTW TRAVELER PROFILE - Julie MacArthur

Julie MacArthur left in January on a trip to Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe and back home to Vancouver, Canada. It's something she's been planning for a long time so she reckons her family and friends are just glad she's finally going instead of always planning. Her strategy goes along the lines of "Just buy a ticket, the rest sorts itself out...."

If you're planning your own RTW trip, you'll find plenty of answers to your travel questions, and can read tips and profiles from other round the world travelers.

THE BOOTBLOG

The BnA crew has been very busy with the addition of Donovan and Court. Both of them have been hard at work learning how to program. Sean has spent lots of time shuttling people to the airport and Court is finally adjusting to the Portland weather. Read up on the BootBlog to see what else the crew is up to.

BOOTSNALL IN BALI

Despite what other guidebooks say, Bali is safe for independent travelers - and we know this from first-hand travel experience. Sean and Chris recently went to meet Nick - who opened a BootsnAll office in Bali last year - to plan for BootsnAll's next year and to check out the travel scene. Of course, there aren't as many people, but the Bali travel scene is alive and kicking. There is still surf, sand, snorkeling and climbing on Mt. Bratan. Don't be fooled by government warnings that Bali is unsafe and shouldn't be traveled to. There are all sorts of travelers in Bali right now. In fact, Nick recently met up with Richard, a round-the-world traveler who has been on the road for eight months, starting in Western Europe and traveling all the way to Indonesia. Read about Richard's story.

Nick also met up with three American travelers in Bali; all living there for a variety of interesting reasons. Read what Nick found out as they enjoyed that coveted hard-to-find Mexican food.

There are new visa regulations for all you wanna-be expats and long-term vagabonds, who are planning to spend a couple months in Indonesia. Find out what Nick discovered at the Indonesian immigration office.

TRAVELLER'S TOOLKIT - Women's Travel

With the addition of a female BootsnAll staff member, we figured it was time for an overhaul of our weak attempt of a women's travel section (what do we know?). Court's gotten stuck into it with a passion, with articles about why women need to pack differently than men, and dealing with the opposite sex. Feel free to email her with your suggestions for more issues facing female travelers.
