RTW TRAVELER PROFILES - Robin Scholetzky and Matt Lachman

After reading an article in the Oregonian newspaper in 2000, both Robin Scholetzky and Matt Lachmann began considering an around the world adventure. They had read about a couple who had quit their good jobs and traveled around the world, not knowing where they would go next, or what they would do. A few years later, after much thought, consideration and planning, Robb and Matt decided to make their lifelong dream a reality.

In just a few days, they are off to Thailand, where they will spend the next year navigating around the world, including stopping in a few key spots like Vietnam, India, Eygpt, Germany and Estonia.

Robin and Matt believe that this opportunity to travel is a great gift and that it is important to view travel not only as a sightseeing opportunity but also as a chance to share and learn different perspectives.

Check out their adventure at Matt & Robins Wide World Of Travel.

If you're planning your own RTW trip, you'll find plenty of answers to your travel questions, and can read tips and profiles from other round the world travelers.

BOOTBLOG

This summer has been interesting for everyone at BootsnAll. Since the headquarters is being remodeled, we have officially been out of the office for close to 10 weeks and have been working from a variety of places - our homes, Internet cafe's, parks, on the road, and even at Sean's parent's house. Now that the house is close to completion, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Probably the best BnA news to hit the streets is that Chris Heidrich (AKA Hydrolix) has received his work visa to live and work in the good ole United States of America. This process has taken years to come to fruition, and we can't wait to have Chris's mad skills back in the Pacific NW.

Other happening news is that Donovan, only one week away from his wedding, returned from his bachelor party/rafting trip safe and sound. He saw three bears and managed to navigate all the rapids on a 40 mile strech of the Rogue River. He took a Leap Of Faith off Sports Illustrated Rock.

Court Ries headed to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota and carried around her canoe for 5 days with her family. She managed not to kill a single person.

Greek Isles
Travelers could spend months wandering the countless Greek islands and never cross the same place twice. The hotspots - Santorini, Crete, Rhodes, and Mykonos - are off the hook for partying, but what about those other hidden gems in the Aegean Sea? Where are the more scenic, quiet beautiful isles? Does anybody know?

A Scary Thought About Hostels
Remember back in middle school when it was your first experience showering in a room with a bunch of your classmates? Well, for some travelers like Sue, showering in a big open room with other strangers makes her feel nervous. Are all hostels like this? Only Western Europe? Is it that big of a deal? Read what BootsnAll's members had to say.

A Purpose For Your Trip?
Is the difference between a traveler and a tourist having a purpose for your trip? Johnathan thinks so. Since he is going on a round-the-world trip with his family in a few years, he is developing a purpose or goal that will enrich the experience. By having a purpose, will it lead to a more meaningful experience? What do you think? Do you agree?
