Christchurch - World's Top Garden City
Christchurch has long been called New Zealand's Garden City. However, in the inaugural "Nations in Bloom" competition, held in Madrid in October 1997, Christchurch was voted the top garden city in the world!
The "Nations in Bloom" competition has been developed by the International Federation of Park and Recreation Administration to find the world's best garden city. Christchurch bettered some stiff competition from Britain, Japan, Spain, and South Africa to win the top prize in the "Nations in Bloom" competition, in the category of cities with over 300 000 people.
It's a credit to the time and effort of Christchurch gardeners and the importance Christchurch people have placed in having a beautiful City in which to live, work and play.

Great Britain Boat Race
This event will involve participants paddling in a variety of boat types over a set distance on the majestic Avon river. There will be variety of different race categories from skiffs and canoes through to rowing boats.
