Get Excited: Reads and Links

Hobart
Tasmania, Australia
By Lynn Holmgren

As with Launceston, I only spent one night in Hobart, but wished I'd had more time to explore Tasmania's bustling seaside capital, with architecture reminiscent of English towns. The best I can do is point you towards the visitor information centre and tell you where not to stay. The main reason I stayed at The Pickled Frog Hostel (281 Liverpool St) was its location right near the transport station, because I had to catch the airporter for an early morning flight. The Pickled Frog was one of the dirtiest hostels I had ever stayed in, and the room's door did not even lock. As the airport shuttle picks up from most accommodation in the city for transport, I would recommend finding a nicer place to bed your head. Several other hostels are listed at Hobart Hostels.

As I was staying over on a Friday night, many of the others traveling into Hobart from Lake St.Claire were headed to the famous Salamanca Markets the next morning; located at Salamanca Place every Saturday from 8:30am-3pm.
