Globetrotter Dogma: 100 Canons for Escaping the Rat Race and Exploring the World

Review by Nick O'Neill
Click here to buy this book Bruce Northam divides this book up into 104 Canons (separate tips) on how to make the most of the places and people you visit while travelling. For many beginning travellers, being able to 'read between the lines' is an important skill to develop. The Globetrotter Dogma is written by a guy who knows how to do just that and knows what's important to him. Subjects covered include avoiding neurotic travel partners; meeting people 'person to person', not 'tourist to local'; and being adventurous enough to 'hop the fence' and venture to places not recommended by the State Department. Included in each Canon is a quote by such figures as John Steinbeck, Groucho Marx and an Ecuadorian bus driver.

Bruce Northam provides every reason to travel and knocks down every excuse not to.
